Three times as many crashes following first snowfall of the year

PRINCE GEORGE — There’s been 33 crashes since the first snowfall in Prince George a few days ago.

Prince George RCMP say that’s three times the average number for this early in the winter season.

With that in mind Mounties have a few tips to share, including:

  • Having the proper winter tires installed on your vehicle
  • Increasing the distance between you and the car ahead of you
  • Clearing all of your windows of snow and ice before heading out on the road
  • Make sure your car sensors and cameras are clear of slush and mud
  • Slow down and drive to the current conditions
  • Give yourself extra time to get to your destination so you don’t have to rush
