Donation of $1-million announced at Festival of Trees Fundraising Gala

PRINCE GEORGE — A donation of $1-million was announced at the 30th annual Festival of Trees Fundraising Gala held in Prince George on Friday (Dec. 1).

This donation was made in remembrance of Carol Bajkov, a cherished volunteer with unwavering commitment to the festival since its creation and a vital piece in the festival’s success.

The contribution was made by Bajkov’s family in tribute to her legacy and intended to expand the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at the University Hospital of Northern BC.

The expansion will include the creation of dedicated twin spaces, a crucial need in Northern B.C. for enhanced newborn care, as well as additional beds, family spaces and patios.

Carol’s daughter, Lara Pederson, stated her mother would be proud to see her legacy help the children that she cared so deeply for.
