Prince George Cougars achieve second victory in U.S. trip, defeating Spokane Chiefs 6-3

SPOKANE, WA — The Prince George Cougars defeated the Spokane Chiefs 6-3 on Saturday (Dec. 2) to earn their second win of their U.S. swing.

Oren Shtrom, Zac Funk, Ondrej Becher, Jett Lajoie and Matteo Danis scored for the Cougars, with Becher winning the star of the match with two goals and one assist.

The Cougars started the game strong, scoring five goals by the first quarter of the second period.

Spokane proceeded to score three goals in the second period, however, Danis would seal the victory in the last quarter for the Cougars.

With this win, Prince George becomes the first WHL team this season to achieve the 20-win milestone.

Cougars goalie, Ty Young, made 28 saves of 31 shots on net, whilst Chiefs goaltender, Cooper Michaluk, made 23 saves of 29 shots on goal.

Next, the Prince George Cougars end their U.S. road trip facing the Portland Winterhawks today (Dec. 3) at 5:00 p.m. in the Veterans Memorial Coliseum.
