Alberta company donates 6 tiny homes for Mocassin Flats

PRINCE GEORGE – The tiny homes project in Mocassin Flats headlined by Brad Gustafson and Phillip Frederickson saw a huge boost today from In Green Building Systems, a company based out of Calgary, Alberta. In Green Building Systems donated six additional tiny homes to the Gustafson and Frederickson project, bringing the total homes up to 15.

Despite the distance from Calgary to Prince George, In Green Building Systems says they wanted to help out when they saw media coverage of the tiny home project.

“They (In Green Building Systems’ CEO and President) took it upon themselves to send out a Christmas gift to all the people here. I know it’s a cross province, but it doesn’t mean that these people are any less deserving of the help,” said In Green Building Systems Marketing Director Brittany Irons

“I don’t think that it takes a superhero to make a difference. I just think it takes people who are determined, selfless, and in our company we would like to get involved in not just this project, but many others to come, hopefully,” she continued.

Irons explained the homes are made of particle boards and styrofoam interiors, which are structurally insulated panels to keep the heat in. These particles take 50% less energy to heat, as well as costing only half as much as other inferior boards. The donation of six additional insulated homes means everything to Gustafson, who continues to build homes in Mocassin Flats.

“It’s tremendous, tremendous encouragement, because it means that basically the medias efforts have reached enough people to begin to touch the hearts of people, even as faraway as Calgary. And that’s just tremendous,” Gustafson said.

Gustafson hopes to keep building until the gofundme runs out of money. He says at the moment all the money ($12 000) has been spent, but he expects more donations to come. A single tiny home costs around $1500 and takes approximately two days to build, and if possible he hopes to build for 70 people who are on his wait list for a tiny home in Mocassin Flats.
