PRINCE GEORGE—Conservative MLA of Nechako Lakes John Rustad entered politics in 2005. Earlier this year the Conservative Party of B.C. chose him as their leader.

So as I joined the Conservative Party in British Columbia, the leader at that time decided to step down and make room for me to take on the leadership which I took on at the end of March. And from there, you know, you take on a party that’s, you know, somewhere between two and 4% in the polls and trying to, you know, vaulted onto the onto the people’s stage in B.C..

A poll was released at the end of November reporting that if an election were held the B.C. NDP would likely secure another majority government. The Conservative Party of B.C. placed a second with 26 per cent. Rustad attributes the success of the Conservative Party being able to tap into “grassroots movement across the province”.

I feel that I feel that in terms of the riding and the issues there. But then again, many of the issues that I’m fighting for that I’d like to change provincially are the issues that people would like to see changed in my riding as well.
