Cougars fall in shootout against Rockets
PRINCE GEORGE – The Prince George Cougars fought hard against the Kelowna Rockets last night (Jan. 13), but the visiting team split the weekend, downing the Cougars 3-2 in a shootout. Ondrej Becher and Terik Parascak had the goals for Prince George.
The Kelowna Rockets was leading the game 2-0 during the first two periods. The Cougars dominated the final regulation period, outshooting the Rockets 13-2. Despite the impressive offensive display, the teams remained deadlocked at two, forcing the game into overtime.
Ultimately, the game required a shootout. Kelowna’s captain, Gabriel Szturc, secured the lone shootout goal, while Jari Kykkanen denied all three Cougar shooters, securing a hard-fought victory for the Rockets.
Prince George now gets ready to welcome the Portland Winterhawks next Friday (Jan. 19) inside CN Centre.
