Multiple drug busts lead to seizure of prescription and illicit drugs

Mar 7, 2024 | 10:38 AM

PRINCE GEORGE — The Prince George RCMP’s Street Crew Unit has been busy over the past few months.

One investigation resulted in the seizure of more than 10,000 pills, including codeine and hydromorphone. In addition to that, large quantities of fentanyl, cocaine and methamphetamine were seized.

A second investigation led to the seizure of over two kilos of cocaine and methamphetamine and cash – not to mention thousands of prescription pills.

The addresses of the busts were not provided by police. RCMP say they’ve noted an alarming trend over the last year in the amount of prescription drugs seized during drug trafficking investigations, noting they are being used as a form of currency to purchase more potent drugs.

Police are warning the public that the misuse of prescription medication by anyone is extremely dangerous.

Prince George RCMP encourages the public to report any suspicious activity in their area.
