PRINCE GEORGE – Some parents feel overwhelming joy when their child succeeds in sports. Recently, CKPG spoke with some local parents whose children trained at the Caledonia Nordic Ski Club and went on to compete in the Olympics.

Pierre Beaudry and Heather Tandy have been long-time volunteers at the Caledonia Nordic Ski Club. They have contributed their time and experience to the group for many winter seasons, and their children have also benefited from its programs.

“As a parent, my husband and I absolutely loved bringing our kids out here. Our kids started skiing when they were two”

Heather Tandy’s daughter Megan achieved Olympic success partly due to training at the Nordic Ski Centre.

Beaudry’s daughter Sarah made her Olympic debut at PyeongChang 2018, finishing 29th in the 15km individual event.

“It’s a proud dad, but also proud of this Otway community.”

Both parents firmly believe that the most effective way to raise high-achieving children is to support their passions and the community that has contributed to their growth.
