Burgess Creek Wildfire evacuation alert lifted
PRINCE GEORGE—The Cariboo Regional District has lifted the evacuation alert for the Burgess Creek wildfire located between Williams Lake and Quesnel.
The fire was discovered on April 20, 2024 and the alert was issued the next day. The fire is suspected to be human caused and is 1,800 hectares in size.The fire is now classified as being held thanks to the efforts of 125 firefighters along with the assistance of air support, heavy equipment, and the incident management team.
The B.C. Wildfire Service says the fire is unlikely to grow beyond it’s boundaries given current weather conditions.
