PRINCE GEORGE — Prince George City Council approved a pair of temporary use permits at its meeting this week. Both will be located in light industrial areas.

It will allow for a new convenience store at 1798 Nicholson Street, which is within walking distance of CNC and will cater to both domestic and international students.

In a letter to City Council, the proponents of Indian Corner Ltd, note that the location is also close to where many of the international students live – allowing them access to basic groceries such as butter, bread and milk instead of hiring a taxi and going to a supermarket at night.

The other temporary use permit will allow for counselling services at 650 3rd Avenue. This will allow for a “Health Service, Minor” and “Office use” at this location. According to a City report, it will also bring an unpermitted counselling business into compliance with the zoning bylaw and allow for greater utilization of the existing building.
