PRINCE GEORGE—On June 6, 2024, the College of New Caledonia (CNC) will celebrate the graduating Class of 2024. The ceremonies will celebrate the achievements of more than 1,100 graduates.

“Convocation is the pinnacle of the student journey. We are so excited for graduates who have set goals and dedicated themselves to their studies,” says Cindy Heitman, CNC President. “As we proudly celebrate their dedication and achievements, we also want to extend our thanks to their parents, spouses, children, friends, and CNC’s faculty and staff. Their continued support toward students’ personal and professional success makes all the difference.”

The Prince George Campus convocation will take place at 1 p.m. on Thursday at the Prince George’s CN Centre. The Quesnel Campus convocation will take place June 11 at 1 p.m at CNC’s North Cariboo Campus in Quesnel. The Prince George ceremony will be livestreamed.

CNC’s convocation ceremonies will feature stories of graduates who distinguished themselves throughout their college education.

Among them is Kiaya Morrisey of Takla First Nation. Graduating with an Associate of Arts degree in psychology, Kiaya will be receiving the Lieutenant Governor’s Medal for Inclusion, Democracy, and Reconciliation for her dedication to serving the community, advancing human rights, and promoting understanding, respect, and cooperation between Indigenous and non-Indigenous communities.

“I’m no longer the same person I was two years ago. Attending post-secondary and volunteering for important causes on and off campus really helped me to open up to others and feel more connected to my culture. I grew so much as a person during my time at CNC – it’s been a very good transition to prepare me for university,” Kiaya shares.

Julie Pryde will be awarded the Governor General’s Academic Collegiate Bronze Medal for graduating CNC’s Medical Laboratory Technology Science program with the highest overall average from a diploma-level, post-secondary program.

Additionally, CNC will be celebrating the 2024 Mary John Award of Excellence, Darien Davis, who is currently studying in University Transfer.
