City of Prince George snow clearing report coming to council

PRINCE GEORGE — With plenty of snow still likely in the calendar year, the City of Prince George has already melted through more than half of its snow-clearing budget.
In a report coming to council this week, Civic Operations Director Blake McIntosh says the city has budgeted $10.3 million for snow and ice control in 2024. That budget was upped after the city spent $10.8 million to clear snow the previous year.
With roughly half the winter months of 2024 now behind us, the city has spent nearly $6 million of that budget — or 58 per cent.
Over the past five years, the City of Prince George has spent an average of $9.36 million per year clearing snow.
