PRINCE GEORGE—On Saturday, the Inner City Wardogs will be throwing leather at the Rumble 32 boxing card in Quesnel.

17 year-old Joshua Greenwood will be stepping in the ring for the second fight of his career, while his teammates Michael Brooks, Cartel Niedermayer and Thunder Innis will all step into the ring for exhibition matches.

Greenwood lost his first fight in Fort St. John last April and he’s looking for a different outcome in Quesnel.

“I’m looking to go in, work on my stuff, hopefully win,” Greenwood says “I have to keep my hands up, have a lot more movement – in and out, that sort of thing.”

Inner City coach Kenny Lally says that despite the loss Greenwood did great noting that through his character and toughness in battle he has the opportunity to be a successful boxer.

“He showed immense courage,” notes Lally. “And it was the first time he ever got a nosebleed. He got it in the first 15 seconds of the fight and he had to deal with that, but that’s part of the game – enduring through adversity.”

For Brooks, Niedermayer and Innis, Rumble 32 is a chance to see if their practice paid off.

“I’ll be pretty much working on fundamentals,” says 25 year-old Brooks, who will be in the ring for his first exhibition. “I’ve been working on that all along, and just trying to stay relaxed, stay composed, keep my cool.”

This will also be 17-year-old Niedermayers’ first chance in a boxing match having started at Inner City four months ago.

While 15-year-old Innis is eager for a competition match he’s just happy for the chance to stare down an opponent.

“I’ll really just be building experience,” says Innis. “That’s what, in my mind, amateur is about – building experience and getting as many fights as possible.”
