City invites you to have your say on Carrie Jane Gray Park renos

PRINCE GEORGE— The City of Prince George is inviting residents to attend a public open house to help choose a concept plan for an extensive multi-year refurbishment project at Carrie Jane Gray Park.

The open house will be held at the YMCA on June 26 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. where you will be able to learn about the project, provide your input, and help shape the parks future.

Carrie Jane Gray Park is a 40-hectare sports hub located in the middle of the City. It’s borders encompass the baseball and softball diamonds, BMX track, beach volleyball courts, Masich Place Stadium, a skate park and more. The City is looking to modernize the facilities to meet “premier athletic park standards”, improving it’s ability to host local, provincial, and national sports competitions.

The Project will be completed in three phases:

  • Phase One: Concept plan development, currently in progress.
  • Phase Two: Creation of a construction-ready design package.
  • Phase Three: Construction contingent on Council’s approval during the 2025 budget deliberations.

Last May, the City spoke with key user groups, including representatives from Prince George Youth Baseball, Spruce City Men and Minor Boys Softball, Prince George BMX, and Senior Men Baseball and other sports field users. The City adds that the feedback the groups provided has been leading the concept drafts.

The open house will let the City further refine the draft to ensure the chosen concept aligns with public needs. Residents can review the plans and participate in a survey on the City’s website from June 27 to July 31, 2024.
