18U PG Knights enjoying strong start to season

PRINCE GEORGE – The 18U Prince George Knights have had a dominant start to the season. As of June 22, the team holds a 12-4 record, which the players say is thanks to a season full of big hits.

“Everybody hits. We usually have a leadoff guy, and then he gets on for us, and we just keep on trying to follow it and try to score. And then once we score that one run, we try to score the next run. Just keep doing what we can do to get those runs in,” said Knights’ Left Fielder Karson Husarski.

Pitcher and Left Fielder Peyton Mackay added the Knights aren’t just offense though, as he credits a strong pitching rotation and tight defense as well. However, both Mackay and Husarski say it’s not just the talent that helps stack wins, it’s also the team chemistry and the ability to stick together and play as a unit.

“It’s great, the boys overall, such a great group guys. Our team chemistry is awesome and and we’re just really good right now,” Mackay said.

“The boys always like to stick together and like we have a really strong connection. We don’t get too high, we don’t get too low. We always just stay focused on what we’re told to do and how to play and just play our game,” Husarski said.

The Knights are currently in the middle of a double header against the Richmond City Chuckers, which was delayed due to rain and lightning. As of publication, the results are not yet known.
