City to provide a portion of their revenue from sponsorship of NSC main court, to contribute to new gym floor
PRINCE GEORGE — The gym floor at Northern Sport Centre (NSC) is in need of replacement and the City of Prince George has agreed to provide a portion of their revenue from a sponsorship of the main court, to contribute to the project.
As was outlined in a report to council, with the gym floor in need of replacement, one way to assist with the funding of the project is through the selling of naming sponsorships. Director of Civic Facilities and Events Andy Beesley, said at Monday’s council meeting that UNBC “has done the legwork to obtain a sponsorship package for the naming of the gym floor for a total of $75,000.”
UNBC wrote a letter to council to propose an agreement that “would see UNBC and the City agree to use their shares of the proceeds to assist in funding the gym floor project.” The proposed sponsorship is $75,000 over six years and out of that “$25,000 will cover the additional sponsorship benefits provided to the sponsor by UNBC Athletics.” For the remaining $50,000, “the City would receive 20% ($10,000) and UNBC would receive 80% ($40,000), and the City would contribute its $10,000 to the NSC for the project. UNBC has also committed additional financial support in the amount of $30,000.
