Prince George cyclist arrested on Vancouver Island after traffic stop

OAK BAY — A Prince George man out for a bike ride on Vancouver Island was cruising on the sidewalk and not wearing a helmet.

Oak Bay Police note in a press release they conducted a traffic stop on June 29 and learned the 37-year-old man had a warrant for his arrest in Prince George for possession of a prohibited weapon.

Police say they arrested and searched the man and found multiple knives, a baton, a replica firearm and plastic knuckles.

The man, who was bound by a conditional sentence order to not possess imitation firearms, was transported to Saanich Police cells and held for court.
