Wildfires in Prince George Fire Centre spurring evacuation orders, alerts

The BC Wildfire Service posted on twitter on Saturday night to report 45 new wildfire starts in the previous 24 hours in the Prince George Fire Centre.

The Beaver River wildfire (G31220), about 13 kilometres southeast of McBride, is estimated at 140 hectares in size as of Sunday (July 21) morning and remains classified as out of control.

Ground personnel are responding and are supported by aerial resources.

The Regional District of Fraser Fort George has issued an evacuation alert for the immediate vicinity.

Meanwhile, the Laidman Lake wildfire (G41261) was estimated at 51 hectares as of Saturday afternoon and remains classified as out of control.

The Regional District of Bulkley Nechako has issued an evacuation alert and evacuation order for the immediate vicinity.

An unnamed wildfire (G41160) 1.5 kilometres south of Tatelkuz Lake is estimated at 270 hectares in size and remains classified as out of control.

Ground personnel are responding and are supported by aerial resources.

Evacuation alerts are also in place for the Marie Lake and Nana Lake areas due to the 200-hectare Pitka Creek wildfire.

The area is southwest of Fort St. James and west of BC Highway 27.

Anyone in the affected area must be ready to leave on short notice.
