Evacuation order issued for Kuyakuz Lake area, alert for Tatelkuz Lake area

WILLIAMS LAKE, B.C. — Update: Both the alert for the Tatelkuz Lake area and the order for the Kuyakuz Lake area, have been rescinded.

Earlier: An Evacuation Order has been issued by the Cariboo Regional District Emergency Operations Centre for 29 parcels in the Kuyakuz Lake Area.

The order covers 92,335 hectares.

Due to immediate danger to life safety due to fire, members of the RCMP or other groups will be expediting this action.

Residents are asked to leave the area immediately. Those who disregard the order do so at their own risk.

Evacuation routes include east to Quesnel via Nazko or east to Prince George via Vanderhoof.

Meanwhile, an evacuation alert has been issued by Cariboo Regional District at the Emergency Operations Centre for 33 parcels in the Tatelkuz Lake Area.

The alert was issued on Sunday (July 21) due to the potential danger to life and health due to wildfire.

Residents will be given as much advance notice as possible prior to evacuation, but may receive limited notice due to changing conditions.
