The BC Wildfire Service is classifying a wildfire 30 kilometres east of Wells as out of control, upgrading it from its former status as under control.

Heat and dry conditions in the area have led to increased fire activity and the blaze most recently listed at 123 hectares in size has grown by 40 hectares.

As of Sunday (Sept. 8) afternoon, no structures or communities are under threat, but the wildfire will be visible from parts of the rural 3100 Road and the Ghost Lake Road recreation site, according to a press release from the Cariboo Fire Centre.

BCWS ground crews are on site and receiving support from both heavy equipment and aviation.
