PRINCE GEORGE — The BC Greens have announced that James Steidle will carry the party’s banner into the provincial election on October 19.

Steidle will run in Prince George-Mackenzie where the other announced candidates to date are Kiel Giddens of the Conservative Party of BC, Shar McCrory of the NDP and independent candidate Rachael Weber.

Steidle grew up on an isolated cattle ranch near Prince George and is known for advocating for better forestry practices.

He runs a woodworking business that highlights underutilized species like aspen. A BC Greens news release notes his focus “is on opposing harmful practices such as herbicide spraying and pushing for better management of BC’s forests to ensure they benefit local economies rather than global multinationals.”

This isn’t Steidle’s first run at public office, as he ran unsuccessfully for a seat on Prince George City Council in 2022.
