No clear winner in provincial election

BRITISH COLUMBIA – The provincial election is even tighter than polls predicted, as the BC NDP and BC Conservative Party is neck-and-neck in votes and ridings. As of October 19, 10:25 p.m., the vote count is as follows:
- NDP: Elected or leading in 46 seats, 895,763 votes, 44.56%
- Conservatives: Elected or leading in 45 seats, 874,550 votes, 43.48%
- Green: 2 seats, 167,180, 8.31%
It is unknown when the official results will come in and whether or not some seats will flip, but if the seat counts stay as is, political analysts speculate it’s possible the NDP and Green Party could form a deal where the Green Party would join the NDP, resulting in an NDP majority.
Locally, the four ridings of Prince George-Mackenzie, Prince George-North Cariboo, Prince George-Valemount, and Nechako Lakes saw the Conservative Party dominate. Not only did the party sweep the ridings, the closest riding of Prince George-Valemount still saw Rosalyn Bird win by more than 2,000 votes.
