PRINCE GEORGE— The Spruce Kings added some pieces to their back end over the past couple of days.

On Saturday, they acquired defenseman Trent LeDrew form the Blackfalds Bulldogs with Aidan Souligny and the rights of Jared Langdon going the other way.

“He’s a player management’s watched for a while. He’s a good two way defenseman who can move the puck up to the forwards quite well and he’s a high work ethic kid,” said Head Coach Alex Evin after practice on Wednesday.

Along with LeDrew, Prince George acquired six-foot-five defenseman Isaac Holt from the Vernon Vipers on Tuesday.

“He’s got a lot of size. I think he knows the type of defenseman he’s going to be is a hard to play against five on five defensemen, that’ll help us kill penalties. We’re looking forward to seeing what he can do,” said Evin.

The two will surely help the Spruce Kings back end, who have allowed the third most goals against in the BCHL this season.

“Those two we feel instantly make us better and now it’s just getting them integrated with the team and some of our little details and habits that we want them to play with,” Head Coach Alex Evin on the expectation of the newcomers.

They’ll play their first two games with the team this weekend in Powell River.
