Search for missing hunter and his dog suspended

CHETWYND — Search crews and police have suspended their search for a man and his dog who went missing last month while on a hike in the Chetwynd area.

James Joseph Edmund Barnes and his golden retriever Murphy were last seen between 11 and 11:30 a.m. on Friday, October 18, on the Ground Birch Road off the 269 Road.

His grey Chevy pickup was located with no sign of himself or his dog. Barnes is 28-years-old, five foot 11, 201 pounds with brown hair, brown eyes and a big mustache.

If you were in the area of 269 Road and Ground Birch Road, have dash cam video or have seen his dog Murphy, you are asked to call police.

RCMP add if you were in the area after James was reported missing, and see anything that may be of help to investigators, to please call the Chetwynd RCMP at 250-788-9221.
