PRINCE GEORGE — Make it three straight wins and eight straight games with a point for the Prince George Cougars, as they beat the Kelowna Rockets 4-3 at CN Centre Friday night (Nov. 15).

Joshua Ravensbergen, the 2025 NHL Draft prospect, led the way with 31 saves for Prince George. Overage defenceman Viliam Kmec and rookie Lee Shurgot led the way offensively with a goal and an assist each.

Kmec and rookie Carlson Carels’ first WHL goal had the Cougars up 2-0 inside six minutes Friday night.

While Kelowna responded through Kanjyu Gojsic, Shurgot restored the two goal lead with eight seconds to go in the opening period.

Caden Prince and Koehn Ziemmer – the reigning WHL Player of the Week – traded second period goals. The Rockets then made it a one-goal game late in the third courtesy Jakub Stancl’s seventh of the season, but the Cougars were able to hold on for the win.

Ravensbergen was named a second star on the night as he picked up his eleventh win of the season, tied for most in the WHL with Tri-City’s Lukas Matecha and Everett’s Jesse Sanche.

The Rockets Jari Kykkanen stopped 19 of 23 shots to pick up the loss, as the Rockets sit fifth in the BC Division with a 7-8-1-1 record. PG improves to 12-4-3-2, which leaves them atop the BC Division and second in the Western Conference.

The Cougars and Rockets will rematch at the CN Centre tonight. Puck drop is 6:00 p.m.
