FORT ST.JAMES — The B-C Conservation Officer Service says a man from Fort St. James has been fined three-thousand dollars after hunting moose at night three years ago.
A statement from the service says officers responded to a complaint about the nighttime hunting in progress along the Necoslie Forest Service Road near Fort St.James in September 2021, and they found a suspect and a vehicle at the scene.
The service says an investigation determined a moose had been shot from the road, with the headlights of a vehicle used to illuminate the animal in the darkness.
It says Francois Prince pleaded guilty in provincial court to violating the Wildlife Act, and he’s also been handed a nine-month probation order.
