Three arrested following assault at Prince George nightclub

PRINCE GEORGE — Prince George RCMP arrested three people outside of a downtown nightclub early Sunday morning (March 2).

Mounties say it all started when police observed a fight between two women just after 3 a.m..

When police attempted to arrest the primary suspect in the assault, she became uncooperative with the officer and a large crowd formed, which police say led to a volatile situation.

Multiple officers were called in in an effort to deescalate the situation, leading to two more arrests. Police say there are lessons to learn from this incident.

“This is a reminder to the public that you may not always know what is going on or why a person is under arrest by a police officer, but that you must allow our police officers to safely complete their work. If you think something is going on that requires follow up by the detachment, there are better ways to have this done than interfering with the police officer,” states Corporal Jennifer Cooper, Media Relations Officer for the Prince George RCMP.

The three people arrested were later released without process.
