PRINCE GEORGE — The Liberal Party of Canada has announced its candidates in the two Prince George ridings.

Quesnel-based immigration consultant Clinton Emslie is the party’s candidate in Cariboo-Prince George. He calls himself a “fierce Liberal candidate” who “brings a strategic mindset and a pragmatic approach to problem-solving.”

His biography states “he has helped individuals build new futures, cut through bureaucratic red tape, and find the opportunities they deserve.”

Emslie received the party’s nod after it was announced earlier Friday that Chris Beach was not the party’s candidate in the riding, even though he went ahead and launched his campaign last week.

Emslie is running against Conservative incumbent Todd Doherty, the NDP’s Angie Bonazzo, Jodie Capling of the Green Party, Rudy Sans of the People’s Party of Canada, and Jake Wiens with the Christian Heritage Party.

Nanaimo-based realtor Peter Njenga is the Liberal Party candidate in Prince George-Peace River-Northern Rockies.

Njenga holds a Ph.D in finance, an MBA, a B.Comm, and CPA designation.

Born and raised in Kenya, Njenga later migrated to Canada in 2006. According to his biography, he has supported homeless people in Greater Vancouver and Vancouver Island with food hampers and by supporting organizations such as the Surrey Mission.

Other candidates in the riding are Conservative incumbent Bob Zimmer, Mary Forbes with the Green Party, David Watson of the People’s Party of Canada, and Cory “Grizz” Longley with the NDP.

Election day is scheduled for April 28.
