Fraser Lake trailer park fire kills pets amid ongoing water crisis
PRINCE GEORGE – For over 970 days, a trailer park located just outside Fraser Lake has been grappling with a severe water supply issue. This longstanding problem reached a tragic peak recently when a fire engulfed one of the homes, claiming the lives of three pets.
Frustration among the residents is mounting as they hold the landowner, the provincial government, accountable for failing to rectify the situation. Arthur Ponte, a long-standing resident of the Lakeview Mobile Home community, was not at home when a neighbour spotted smoke rising from his house. In an attempt to combat the blaze, the neighbour first grabbed a garden hose, but the low water pressure proved unhelpful.
When that failed, he resorted to using a hand-powered wildfire pump to fight the advancing flames.
