Ellis Ross defeats Taylor Bachrach in Skeena-Bulkley Valley

SMITHERS —Update: Conservative Ellis Ross has been elected in Skeena-Bulkley Valley. Ross earned 47.7 per cent of the votes cast (18336 votes) to Bachrach’s 38.7 per (14856 votes).

The NDP had held this riding since Nathan Cullen first won it in 2004.

Earlier: (11:30 p.m. April 28)Conservative Ellis Ross has taken the lead in Skeena-Bulkley Valley.

Ross, the former BC United MLA and former chief councillor of the Haisla Nation, is up against NDP incumbent Taylor Bachrach, Liberal Inderpal Dhillon, Rod Taylor of the Christian Heritage Party and Adeana Young of the Green Party.

Bachrach was ahead for much of the night but as of 10:30 p.m. Pacific Time, Ross has built up a 1,000 vote advantage with 120/254 polls reporting.
