Boardwalk Apartment Blaze Sends Plume of Smoke Across City

PRINCE GEORGE – Close to a hundred residents have been displaced due to an early morning apartment fire. The sounds of smoke alarms and fire personnel woke up some residents of the Boardwalk apartment on Killoren Crescent.

A plume of black smoke from the apartment fire was visible throughout the city. Prince George Fire Rescue responded with several crews and trucks.

Residents of the building were evacuated and were met by neighbours and family outside.

People affected by the fire were allowed to take shelter options from the city of Prince George. There is no word on the cause of the fire.

By 9:45 a.m., firefighters had successfully knocked down the flames, though crews continued working to extinguish remaining hot spots. Of the 57 units in the building, 24 have been reported to have sustained damage from fire, smoke, or water.

The City of Prince George is providing emergency shelter and support through Emergency Support Services.

Residents impacted by the fire can contact the ESS hotline at 236-607-9325 for assistance. The cause of the fire has not yet been determined.
