National Indigenous Peoples Day celebrations set for Saturday

PRINCE GEORGE — Lheidli T’enneh Memorial Park will be the place to be Saturday for National Indigenous Peoples Day celebrations.

The celebrations will recognize the history, heritage, and diversity of Indigenous Peoples in Canada and will run from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m..

Attendees can expect a day full of Indigenous artisans, musicians, drummers, dancers, bannock and more.

Performers include 2025 Juno Awards nominee Kym Gouchie who will be on stage at 2:20 p.m.

From 7 to 10 p.m. , the party continues at the Knox Performance Centre with Rock the Knox – the NIPD After Party, featuring performances by Joel West and Misty Rain.

Admission is by donation, with all proceeds supporting the Lheidli Elders Society.

“National Indigenous Peoples Day is about celebrating who we are,” says Chief Dolleen Logan of Lheidli T’enneh First Nation. “It’s a time to honour our culture, language, and traditions—and to share them with the whole community. This land has always been a gathering place, and on June 21, we continue that legacy in the spirit of reconciliation and unity.”
