Mother of machete attack victim warns people ‘to be wary’
PRINCE GEORGE — Prince George RCMP are investigating a machete attack that occurred Friday night just before 7 p.m. (June 20).
The incident occurred on the 1900-block of Strathcona Avenue and police say it happened after a man was approached by a large group of youth. The victim was hit in the head by a machete, receiving numerous non-life-threatening injuries.
“Thankfully, witnesses in the area have been incredibly cooperative with our investigation and from this we know there were three assailants. One suspect, a 15-year-old youth, was arrested shortly after the assault occurred and will remain in-custody until his next court appearance. We are still looking for the other two suspects and are asking that if anyone has any information on who they are or where they are now, they contact the Prince George RCMP’s non-emergency line with that information,” states Corporal Jennifer Cooper, Media Relations Officer for the Prince George RCMP.
