Public Health warns of potential measles exposure in Smithers on July 19

Smithers – Public Health is advising residents and those who visited Smithers about possible exposure to measles in the area on July 19, 2025.

The locations where exposure may have occurred include the Smithers ROI Movie Theatre, from 6:30 p.m. until closing; The Aspen Riverhouse Restaurant, 5 to 9 p.m.; McDonald’s, from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.; and 7-Eleven at 4011 Yellowhead Hwy 16 during all daytime hours.

If you suspect exposure, watch for measles symptoms and use the measles exposure risk assessment tool to guide your next steps. Those at the highest risk of infection include individuals who are not vaccinated, particularly children under one year old.
