Two killed in Highway 97 crash at Dunkley Road

QUESNEL — Mounties are investigating a fatal crash that occurred Thursday night on Highway 97.

Police say a transport truck collided with a passenger sedan at Dunkley Road and Highway 97 at 11:40 p.m.

“First responders arrived on scene and confirmed that both occupants of the sedan were deceased. With the assistance of Highway Rescue, the driver of the transport truck was extracted and transported to Prince George with serious but non-life threatening injuries.”

RCMP say a traffic reconstructionist attended the scene to conduct a comprehensive examination and collect further evidence to advance the investigation.

Police say speed and alcohol are not believed to be contributing factors at this time. The crash closed the highway for seven hours but has now re-opened.
