Lheidli T’enneh and Valemount sign MOU

PRINCE GEORGE — The Lheidli T’enneh First Nation and the Village of Valemount have signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU).

It was signed by Chief Dolleen Logan and Mayor Owen Torgerson at the House of Ancestors on September 5, 2025.

The MOU commits both parties to on-going Community to Community (C2C) meetings in subsequent years, aligning the needs of the traditional, ancestral land and title holders with the modern governance of municipal governments.

“As a Nation, Lheidli T’enneh has been committed to building, fostering, and expanding relationships with all levels of Government. These relationships are key to progressing the needs of our respective constituents and communities. When we connect and work with community partners, we are better positioned to advance the shared priorities and opportunities of our region and province,” said Chief Dolleen Logan

“This Memorandum of Understanding fosters stronger relationships and open communication between Lheidli T’enneh First Nation and the Village of Valemount. It encourages mutual understanding, respect, and collaboration on shared goals and initiatives. By working together, we can address community needs more effectively and create lasting positive impacts. Ultimately, this partnership lays the foundation for a more united and stronger future for both communities,” said Mayor Owen Torgerson.

The relationship between the Nation and Village began several years ago, and was first formalized at a C2C Forum in October 2024 in Valemount, with the follow up meeting and MOU signing taking place 11 months later.
