Motorists And Cyclists Asked To Share The Road

PRINCE GEORGE- More cyclists are expected to hit the streets of Prince George as the weather is warm and the streets have been swept. A local bike shop is recommending bikers ensure they’re as visible as possible while riding by wearing reflective clothing and bright colours or buying lights for your bike. Ruckus employee, Jacob Muller adds,”I always try to give a bit more room to cyclists on the road, but as a cyclist, I always try to stay in my lane and be responsible when riding.”

On the other hand, drivers are reminded to stay out of bike lanes. “With the bike lanes, they don’t break until the actual intersection so you’re not allowed to cross that solid white line as part of your right-hand turn, you quite often have to make a bit of a wider right-hand turn,” says driving instructor, Chris Schulz. Some city streets don’t have bike lanes, so motorists are asked to give cyclists one metre of room.
