PRINCE GEORGE — The University of Northern British Columbia (UNBC) Timberwolves men’s soccer team’s season hangs in the balance in the final weekend of the 2025 Canada West season.

The T-Wolves fell to the unbeaten and top ranked University of British Columbia (UBC) Thunderbirds at home Friday (Oct. 17) 2-1.

The T-Wolves struck first blood against the juggernaut Thunderbirds 18 minutes in with Isaac Tate scoring his fourth goal of the season. However, UBC responded with an equalizer in the 29th minute to tie the match 1-1 heading into the second half.

From there, the Thunderbirds scored in the 49th minute and never surrendered the 2-1 lead. T-Wolves goalkeeper Logan Pierce made eight saves to give his club a chance to find the tying goal.

The T-Wolves have a record of four wins, eight losses and two draws in 14 matches, giving them a win percentage of 0.33 per cent. It places them fifth in the Canada West Pacific Division standings, one spot out of the playoff picture.

The T-Wolves need the Trinity Western University Spartans to lose to the Thompson Rivers University WolfPack Saturday (Oct. 18), or settle for a draw, to keep their playoff hopes alive ahead of their rematch with the Thunderbirds Sunday (Oct. 19) at 2:00 p.m. from Masich Place.
