Accused in July hit-and-run in Prince George makes court appearance

PRINCE GEORGE — On Wednesday, December 10, the man charged in the death of Cops for Cancer rider Shane Kelly made one of his initial court appearances on the matter at the Prince George Law Courts.

Thomas Leslie Philips is facing multiple charges including impaired operation of a motor vehicle causing death, impaired operation of a motor vehicle causing bodily harm, failure to stop when an accident causes death, one count of failing to stop when the accident causes bodily harm, and one count of dangerous operation of a conveyance.

One other cyclist, an RCMP officer, was injured in the crash. The offences are alleged to have occurred on July 7, 2025 on North Ospika Boulevard and McRae Avenue.

Phillips next court appearance is scheduled for January 21st for the purpose of the accused to consult with counsel.
