PRINCE GEORGE – The Prince George Public Library Bob Harkins Branch has completed construction of its new skylight.

“This was really important to repair the skylight that was leaking water when there was heavy rainfall, and it became no longer possible to repair that,” said the Library’s Director Paul Burry.

“We wanted to make sure that the project went ahead right away because it did lead to possible damage to things in the library and collections, and we want to make sure that those things are intact and kept safe from the weather. So we really appreciate the work the City did to move that project forward fast,” he continued.

The project finished on time and cost 1.125 million dollars, with $900,000 of that coming from the Canada Community-Building Fund, while the remaining $225,000 is funded through the City of Prince George’s General Infrastructure Reinvestment Fund. The City adds the new skylight is expected to have a lifespan of 30 to 40 years.
