Thousands without power in Prince George as BC Hydro reports substation fault

PRINCE GEORGE — Thousands of people in Prince George are without power this afternoon because of a substation failure, though BC Hydro says crews have already been assigned to rectify the issue.

According to the BC Hydro outage map, 8,240 customers in Prince George have been without power since about 2:30 p.m. Saturday (Dec. 27).

At this time, it’s not clear when power might be restored.

These outages come as temperatures in Prince George are forecast to reach -17 C tonight and -25 C when you factor in the wind chill. The forecast daytime high for Saturday was -18 C, with a wind chill of -25 C in the afternoon.
