Cougars allow six unanswered goals in blowout loss to Victoria
PRINCE GEORGE — The Prince George Cougars gave up six unanswered goals to the Victoria Royals, who came away with a 6-1 at CN Centre Saturday (Dec. 27) night.
Five of those Royals goals came in the second period as both teams were playing their first game after the WHL’s week-long holiday break. It’s the third loss in a row for the Cougars who are without Joshua Ravensbergen and Carson Carels as the pair are away on World Juniors duty with Team Canada.
Hayden Moore opening the scoring for Victoria with the only goal of the first period.
The floodgates opened in the second as Heath Nelson, Caleb Matthews, and Reggie Newman all found the back of the net in a 3:16 span to give the Royals the 4-0 lead. Nelson scored two more goals 90 seconds apart in the third period to complete his hat trick.
