We are only a month into 2026 and already Prince George has seen multiple incidents involving organized crime, including two shootings as well as the arrest of five individuals, linked to a crime syndicate.

PRINCE GEORGE — It’s only the first week of February and already, the City of Prince George has seen two shootings, a massive guns and drugs seizure, as well as an incident with a stolen vehicle in which five people were arrested, at the end of January, tied to a local crime syndicate. We wanted to ask the Minister of Public Safety and Solicitor General if more resources are needed in Prince George to tackle organized crime and gang violence.

In a statement from Minister Nina Krieger, sent to CKPG News, it says:

“Violence in our communities will not be tolerated, and I understand how the escalation of violent incidents in recent days is deeply concerning. This is why the Province continues to make significant investments into enhanced and specialized enforcement initiatives related to guns, gangs and illicit drug trafficking across British Columbia.

“No one should have to live in fear of violence, our government is committed to ensuring police have the tools and resources they need to bring those responsible to justice.

“We are expanding the Combined Forces Special Enforcement Unit’s Uniform Gang Enforcement Team (UGET) into Northern B.C. to keep northern communities safe by providing an overt presence and targeted operations in these communities to disrupt and enforce against organized crime activity. BC RCMP is standing up and in the process of hiring for this new unit to combat organized crime activity that is bringing violence and toxic drugs into local communities.

The Prince George RCMP also sent the following statement to CKPG News:

“Gang violence across Northern B.C. has been escalating in recent years as we’ve witnessed the Lower Mainland gang conflict spread across the province, and Prince George is no exception to this. This is what prompted the creation of the North District Uniform Gang Enforcement Team (ND UGET), and we look forward to adding their experience to what our officers have already been working on day-to-day.”
