PRINCE GEORGE – The University of Northern British Columbia’s Timberwolves Student Athlete Society (TSAS) is preparing to raise funds this weekend through a bottle drive for Bianca Encina-Prosser and her two children, the TSAS’s MVP for the 2025-26 school year.

Encina-Prosser and her children have recently escaped domestic violence, causing enormous emotional and financial challenges. Because of this, the TSAS’s President and third year soccer player Hagon Kim says he and his fellow athletes are happy to support her however they can.

“It’s special for us because the topic of domestic violence is something that we’ve never covered before in terms of this MVP of the Year initiative. When we found Bianca and then heard about Bianca’s story, we thought that it would fit and meet every criteria for MVP of the Year. Our goal is obviously to raise money for Bianca’s family, but we also want to raise the awareness of victims of domestic violence as well,” Kim said.

You can donate your bottle at the Art Knapp Plantland and Home Garden from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on March 21 and 22, and Kim added the Bottle Depot near Costco also has an account under “Timberwolves Student Athlete Society” so you could also donate like that, and they are also accepting any cash donations.

“It definitely feels nice to give back to the community, but also it feels nice to actually connect with the community and help out and go for the same goal to raise money and raise awareness for domestic violence,” Kim said.

Kim added a fundraising dodgeball tournament will be coming up on April 4, and registration for that is likely to open early next week. He says everyone of all ages and skill levels is welcome to sign up.
