Spruce Kings commit to offensive threat

PRINCE GEORGE — Update: The Spruce Kings announced another player today (April 1) – 2007-forward Ethan Stewart.

Stewart is 5’11, 185 pounds from Brandon, Manitoba who spent the last two seasons with the Dauphin Kings of the Manitoba Junior Hockey League. This season, he scored 19 goals and added 29 assists in 42 games, before adding two goals and three assists in four playoff games.

Over the course of two seasons, Stewart scored 29 goals and added 52 assists in 96 games, plus five goals and nine assists in 20 playoff games.

Earlier: The Prince George Spruce Kings have announced a player commitment for next season.

The club says 2008-born forward Daniel Podvalov is 6’0, 187 pounds and was born in Torrance, California, but grew up playing hockey in Kazakhstan. He played for the Little Caesars 18U AAA this season. In 78 games, he scored 42 goals and added 48 assists leading his team in scoring.

“Daniel is a very talented offensive player with a high IQ. We’re thrilled to add him to our program and assist him with the next step in his development,” says General Manager Mike Hawes.

“I’m really excited to join the Spruce Kings organization,” says Podvalov. “It’s a great program with a strong culture and history of developing players. I’m looking forward to improving my game and helping the team in any way I can.”

The Spruce Kings have also committed to 2008 born defenseman Max Reed for the 2026-2027 season.

Reed is 5’8, 150 pounds from Coldstream, BC and has played at the Rink Hockey Academy for the past three seasons. This year, he had 5 goals and 14 assists for 19 points, as his 18U Prep team won the CSSHL Western Championships, with Reed scoring in the championship game.

The Spruce Kings kick off their first round playoff series at home this Friday night when they host the Langley Rivermen. Puck drop is at 7 p.m.
