Chiefs beat Cougars to stave off elimination

SPOKANE — The Spokane Chiefs defeated the Prince George Cougars 3-2 tonight (April 1) on home ice to stay alive in the best of seven quarter final series before 3,753 fans at Numerica Veterans Arena.

Gavin Burcar scored the game winner at the 16:14 mark of the second period. Lee Shurgot scored to make the game 3-2 with a 1:40 left in the third period but it was as close as the Cougars would get.

Townes Kozicky had the other Cougars goal. Spokane outshot Prince George 45-25 and will look to stay alive when they host the Cougars in Game 5 Thursday night (April 2). Prince George leads the series, 3-1.
