UNBC Timberwhales ready to capsize their competition

PRINCE GEORGE BC- The UNBC Timberwhales, Prince George’s local underwater hockey team, gear up to dive into competition next week as they head to Vancouver to compete in nationals. Not to be confused with hockey, the only similarity between the two sports is the name itself. The sharing of the name allows for the national pride and ownership to be enveloped in Canada’s sport, whether it is frozen or under water.

Two of the members of the team, Taryn Atkinson and Shayden Hiebert caught up with CKPG to speak on how they feel to be competing in the national level. Both spoke to the excitement and nervous nature of the team, but above all how proud they are of their team and how they will play with what they know, which is dedication, determination and above all, teamwork.

The UNBC Timberwhales play next weekend on May 16 and 17 in Vancouver. They are ready to capsize their competition with one stick handle at a time.
