UNBC Timberwolves add international forward Brooke Sylvester for 2026–27 season

PRINCE GEORGE — The UNBC Timberwolves women’s soccer program has announced the commitment of forward Brooke Sylvester, who will join the team for the 2026–27 season.

Sylvester, originally from Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, with ties to Edmonton, Alberta, comes to Prince George following a standout athletic career at Saigon South International School. A multi-sport athlete, she excelled in soccer, basketball, and volleyball while also maintaining High Honour Roll status academically.

On the pitch, Sylvester brings versatility and proven offensive production. Capable of playing both as a forward and on the wing, she recently recorded 12 goals in just seven matches during tournament play, earning both Most Valuable Player and Coaches’ Choice honours.

“I have played soccer since such a young age and I can’t imagine not playing it,” Sylvester said. “I love the team aspect and the way the game is played. I also love how it pushes you and fills you with accomplishment in both small and big ways.”

Sylvester visited Prince George in the summer of 2025 and said the experience played a key role in her decision to commit to UNBC.

“I enjoyed the facilities the most,” she said. “I like how everything is close and connected, especially with the addition of the indoor turf field. I also love the environment and nature surrounding the university. Everyone I met was extremely welcoming.”

That sense of connection also extended to the Timberwolves coaching staff and incoming players.

“After the first time I talked with Coach Neil, I remember telling my parents how much I liked his personality and ideas,” Sylvester said. “He had been helping me from so far away, without even knowing I was going to commit yet. I’ve also talked with a few of the girls who are coming in at the same time as me and they are all very nice. I can’t wait to meet them in person.”

Timberwolves head coach Steve Sedgwick said Sylvester made a strong impression during a past camp.

“Brooke impressed when I saw her at camp last year with her approach and quality,” Sedgwick said. “She is a strong student with great character and a willingness to learn and challenge herself. She will be a great fit for the university environment and our program.”

Off the field, Sylvester plans to pursue studies in Biomedical Sciences at UNBC.

The Timberwolves say they are excited to welcome Sylvester and her family to the program and look forward to her contributing to the team when she dons the green and gold this fall.
