VICTORIA, B.C. — Prince George-North Cariboo MLA Sheldon Clare has been appointed Official Opposition House Leader as part of a newly announced leadership team for the Conservative Party of B.C. caucus.

The appointment was revealed by Conservative Party of B.C. Leader Kerry-Lynne Findlay as she unveiled her caucus leadership team ahead of the fall legislative session at the B.C. Legislature.

As Official Opposition House Leader, Clare will play a key role in managing the party’s legislative strategy, coordinating caucus activities in the legislature, and helping direct Conservative efforts to hold the provincial government accountable during debates and question period.

Clare, who represents Prince George-North Cariboo, is one of several MLAs selected for senior leadership positions within the caucus. His appointment places a northern B.C. voice in one of the party’s most prominent parliamentary roles.

The announcement comes as the Conservatives look to strengthen their organization and prepare for the legislature’s return this fall.

“We are building a big tent party where British Columbians from all walks of life who want to restore our prosperity and our freedoms are welcome,” Findlay said in a statement.

She said the newly selected team reflects a united caucus drawn from communities across the province.

“My new leadership team represents a unified force from all parts of B.C. that will hold the government to account and lay the foundation to rebuild our great province,” said Findlay. “The B.C. Conservative Caucus is more united than it has ever been and is ready to take on the NDP when the legislature resumes sitting in the fall, and form government after the next election.”

For Clare, the appointment marks an expanded leadership role within the Official Opposition and gives the Prince George MLA a prominent position in shaping Conservative initiatives and messaging in the legislature.

Findlay said additional caucus assignments are still to come, with a new shadow cabinet expected to be announced in the coming days.

The Conservative caucus is scheduled to hold its first official meeting under the new leadership structure in Penticton on July 2 and 3. The gathering is expected to focus on legislative priorities and preparations for the months ahead.

As House Leader, Clare will be responsible for helping guide the opposition’s legislative agenda and ensuring the caucus is prepared for the next session of the legislature, a role that places the Prince George-North Cariboo representative at the centre of the party’s operations in Victoria.
