Commonwealth Games: Canada claims first gold medal in gymnastics
GLASGOW — Canada has secured its first medals — including one gold — at the Commonwealth Games.
The Canadian men’s artistic gymnastics team placed first with 241.400 points Friday at Glasgow International Arena, finishing ahead of England (238.250) and Australia (235.650).
Canada earned 41.950 on vault, 40.600 on rings, 40.350 on parallel bars, 39.650 on pommel horse, 39.550 on floor exercise and 39.300 on horizontal bar.
Paris 2024 Olympian Félix Dolci of Laval, Que., led the individual standings with 81.650 points. William Émard, Ethan Ikeda, Jordan Carroll and René Cournoyer rounded out the gold medal-winning team.
